Bratislava, 20 March 2026 – From Saturday, 28 March 2026, Dopravný podnik Bratislava (DPB) is changing the timetables of the city’s public transport system. M. R. Štefánik Airport will be more accessible; new stops are being set up in the rapidly growing Bory district, and spring will also bring a renewed season of #sMHDpozelenej recreational lines.

The Bratislava Account brings another online service
Bratislava, 20 March 2026 – Following the property tax, it is now possible to pay the municipal waste fee simply and quickly. The new feature in the Bratislava Account is intended for people who own or rent a house in Bratislava. Bratislava thus becomes the first municipality in Slovakia to allow the payment of the municipal waste fee online, directly through the Bratislava Account.

Bratislava Aims to Actively Develop Its Economy and Talent Together with Partners
Bratislava, February 3, 2026 – The Capital City of the Slovak Republic, Bratislava, today presented a new cooperation program between the city, businesses, and universities in the field of economic development titled “Bratislava: The Capital of Possibilities” at the Mirror Hall of the Primate’s Palace. The program aims to strengthen Bratislava’s position as an attractive city for talent, innovation, and high-quality job opportunities. At the same time, the City of Bratislava announced the launch of the Future Founders Varsity project in cooperation with The Spot, focused on supporting entrepreneurial skills among university students.

Let’s all dress up together at the Bratislava Carnival
Bratislava, 29 January 2026 – A celebration of fun, dance and mad carnival revellers will fill the streets of Bratislava on Saturday, 7 February. In the past, celebrations with a ceremonial character were closely tied to the economic year. Today, however, the Bratislavské kultúrne a informačné stredisko (Bratislava Cultural and Information Centre, BKIS), in cooperation with the capital city, the Bratislava City Museum and partners, is preparing the diversification of local community life in the form of modern carnival celebrations. The all-day programme will start at 9:00 a.m. and will finish with a Carnival party on Hlavné námestie lasting until 10:00 p.m.

Bratislava changes fines for parking violations and passenger violations on public transport
Bratislava, 16 January 2026 – The amount of a fine for a parking violation under strict objective liability is set by law and applies over the whole of Slovakia. Its current rate ranks among the highest when compared with other cities and countries in Europe. Therefore, the mayor of the capital city has asked the government to reduce this rate for fines. However, the capital city management is also introducing measures that will bring relief to honest parkers. Aside from parking, fines will also change for Bratislava’s public transport system.

The return for property tax must be filed by the end of January
Bratislava, 7 January 2026 – By 31 January 2026, all natural persons and legal entities are required to file a return for property tax if they acquired property in the previous year or if they experienced another change compared to last year, for example, if they sold or donated a property. To make filling out the tax return easier, taxpayers in Bratislava have available again this year an intuitive document that will guide them through the entire form and help with numerical calculations. Once the form is filled out, it can also be directly submitted electronically as a tax return.
